A Time to Explore Your Creative Self...

In this weekend retreat, we’ll use the simple art of drawing to free the hand and mind. We’ll explore the creative process in depth, learn to overcome blockages and to express ourselves freely with authenticity, courage and heart. “My words come from the heart. You have an amazing way of facilitating the creative process by stepping out of the way and being nonjudgemental. I love that everyone has a different level of expertise and it doesn't even matter. Your class has been a godsend for me.”

                   —Lyn Angermeier

                       artist

“Your book arrived today!  It's beautifully written, accessible----and makes me want to DRAW and simply BE.  I feel like YOU (because it is so your true blue voice) are talking to me!  It's honest and heart felt and a true gem.  I love the quotes you use, because they are not only fabulous in their own right but so well integrated into what you're saying. The book is beautiful.”

                           —Maggie Stern

                               writer/artist

“I love the book. I haven't been able to put it down. I'm going to try to draw 5 times a week.

It really stirs my creative urge.”

                         —Andrea V

“I am so grateful that you took that step and became a fabulous teacher. I know a great teacher when I see one, since I spent many a year teaching—pushing, pulling, guiding, praising, encouraging. You brought out the art in me and helped me to find my own style and take a scary step.”

                         —Maureen Cook

                              artist / teacher

I have really loved the classes and would like to continue. Thank you so much for the easy going nonjudgemental and seriously fun class. I am playing around with blind drawing and it is FUN!!  Thanks so much!”

“The book shows the love of your labor and your passion. I am certain that you will be helping so many people to get in touch with their innate creativity.”

The Confident Creative Retreat

    What you will learn—

  1. Everyone can draw

  2. Everyone is creative

  3. How to use drawing to grow creativity

This experiential, participatory retreat is designed to offer a real time-out from our busy lives to connect with our true creative selves. Many, if not all people experience blockages to full creative expression at some point in their lives. In the retreat we’ll explore the creative process in depth and how we might use the simple act of drawing to overcome blockages to creative expression. We’ll learn how to let go of inhibiting concerns. At the end of the two days we’ll emerge with greater knowledge of our particular gifts and how we might create with ease from the core of who we are.

No prior drawing experience is necessary. Contrary to common belief—everybody can draw as all children do. If we’ve not drawn for a while, we’ll discover what is unique in our own hand, what our strengths are and how to build on them so they overcome whatever weaknesses we might have. We’ll discover how we can apply what we see in our drawings, and in our approach to drawing, to our lives.  And we’ll learn too how to optimize our creative endeavors whether they be art, writing, music, dance, cooking, gardening, business or simply life.

The retreat will include—

  1. Introductory talk about creative process

  2. Meet and greet with fellow participants

  3. Morning and afternoon drawing sessions

  4. Exercises to clarify goals and directions

  5. Tools for ongoing drawing practice

  6. Question and answer wrap-up session

Drawing and art-making can be enriching for everyone. It can be a meditative practice that leads to greater peace of mind, creativity and sense of connectedness. Drawing together is fun and freeing. Our goal is to learn to express ourselves freely and to draw in a way that is authentic to us. Each participant will leave with a solid sense of possibilities for further exploration and with a deep sense of how drawing can be used as a meditative relaxation that leads to harmony and clarity.

What you’ll take away—

  1. Tools for your ongoing drawing practice

  2. Knowledge of how to enter creative process with ease

  3. Inspiration for your creative life

Drawing is fun and this retreat will offer ample time to explore drawing as a creative medium in itself and to see how it can be a practice that is useful in all of our creative endeavors!

“I LOVE YOUR BOOK!  You are very encouraging to a reader whom you teach to watch, observe, and see not only what is in front of them, but what they feel inside them. You show that drawing demands we  know ourselves as creative beings.

The Confident Creative  is a
